Funding Priorities - 2014

The Medica Foundation sets funding priorities in the first quarter of each calendar year. Funding is directed towards programs that demonstrate the potential for measurable improvement in the availability, access and quality of health care in the communities that we serve and that support the Foundation's mission and giving guidelines.

Application Process

The Medica Foundation has a two-stage electronic application process. Letters of Inquiry applications are accepted during the identified timelines. Applicants will be notified if a full proposal is requested. Apply now.

Behavioral Health

This funding priority seeks proposals focusing on the continuum of behavioral health programs that address gaps in current service, integrate physical and mental health and provide supportive and intensive case management services. Proposals may also include programs addressing the mental health needs of people with physical and developmental disabilities and co-occurring disorders.

Individual grants may be awarded up to $50,000.

Notification Timeline


Early Childhood Health

This funding priority seeks programs that focus on healthy families to foster optimal growth and development of young children. This includes programs that improve access to prenatal and postnatal care; parenting; prevention, including Child and Teen Checkups; dental services and social and emotional health. Programming focuses on children ages birth through age twelve and may involve parents, caregivers, health care providers and the overall community. Note: this funding priority does not include non-health related education.

Individual grants may be awarded up to $30,000.

Organizational Core Mission Support

This funding priority provides small grants to organizations in the regional and rural areas of Medica's service area which includes Minnesota, Western Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota (refer to the Medica Foundation Giving Guidelines for geographic details). Funding will support health-related programming that is core to the organization’s nonprofit mission.

Individual grants may be awarded up to $5,000.
